Ugh!

Just finished watching the Giants' game.

Awful ...

I really do not like the Eagles.

Eli Manning needs to learn how to throw a spiral.

I guess there's always next year.

Cookies

Image taken at Mystic Seaport in Mystic, Connecticut

A co-worker came by the other day and had an order form for Girl Scout Cookies.  I'm a sucker for these things, I ended up getting 7 boxes.  My favorites by far are the Thin Mints, with the Tagalongs in a far second.  I am still unsure why they're only doing once a year.  I once saw a co-worker buy 45 boxes of Thin Mints to last the year.

Well this got me thinking about my other favorite cookies (not including homemade).

Favorite Cookies
1. Oreo (w/ Milk)
2. Danish Butter Pretzel Cookie w/ Large Sugars
3. Pepperidge Farms,  Milano

8 Miles

Image from Botanical Gardens in Montreal, Canada

Today at noon, I went for an 8 mile run.  Work was quite busy this week so there was no opportunity to get out for a run at lunch.  It had been 6 days since my previous run.  Weather was dry but frigid, temperature was around 20F.  I took it easy over the first 4 miles then cycled the tempo over the last 4 miles.  Overall, I felt great throughout the run and at the end.

Distance: 8.00 Miles

Mile - Pace (min/mile)
   1 - 9:49
   2 - 9:51
   3 - 10:00
   4 - 10:10
   5 - 9:27
   6 - 8:30
   7 - 9:04
   8 - 8:33

Career Choice

At different points during my childhood, I had several different ideas of what I wanted to be when I grew up.

Not once, did I ever think about becoming a Chemical Engineer. I guess at some point, I became practical and settled.

I remember watching Top Gun and all of a sudden I wanted to become a Navy Pilot. I went to airshows, I pretended my bed was a fighter jet. I think this must have lasted for a couple years or so.

I think the strangest thing I wanted to be was to be a Rapper. Is this normal? Does everybody go through this phase?

I must have been in 3rd grade at the time and I think MC Hammer's, Can't Touch This just came out. I was outrhyming my other friends and I really thought I had the skills. I truthfully thought I could get a record deal or a scholarship.

The rapping phase lasted all of a few days and by week's end, I went to art class and wanted to be a Sculpturer or Origami Artist.

Books, Books, and Books

Today, two books came in the mail from Amazon. I am really good at buying books, not so good at actually reading them. I am convinced that I simply buy them to fill up my bookshelf.

I go over to people's houses and I often look at their bookshelves and I like to think they do the same.

Reading books has been a struggle since I was in grade school. I think it Oedipus Rex that turned me off, what an awful story.

If only I could line the shelves of my bookshelf with all the TV I watch, I most certainly would have to get a new apartment, probably open my own library.

These two books, I think I will actually read.

Realistically, I'll probably just look at the pictures.

Tell me I am not the only one

There are somethings that you just do not admit, but I'll say it...

I own "When Harry met Sally" ... and I watch it occasionally on the weekend.

I hear songs on the radio like Taylor Swift's "Love Story" or N'Sync's "Bye, Bye, Bye" and I do not change the station, I actually turn up the volume.

I watch the Antique Roadshow and I get excited when the ugly teapot is appraised for some value that no person would ever think about buying it for.

Please tell me I am not alone.

Grinder ... I mean ... Hoagie

Another long day at work, another $5 foot long at Subway.  I always pick up the Spicy Italian but I occasionally get the Meatball to change it up.

Yeah, life is exciting.

Did I mention I got olives and sweet peppers on it.

If I'm ambitious, I get Sun Chips.
